A framework for growth – join in to help yourself and the community
Understanding a rapidly changing business is hard. There are lots of moving parts, usually interconnected, and yet often pulling in opposite directions. It is also very easy for people inside the company to be too close to the action, and ‘not see the wood for the trees.’
It is important sometimes to detach and find a neutral perspective on the business, so that decisions can be taken more dispassionately, and planning can be done in a more inclusive way. I use tools to help me do this consistently in the companies I work with, and I would like to introduce one of them to you here.
Elsewhere on this site you may have seen the Framework for Growth, which underpins a lot of my work in coaching entrepreneurs to prepare for what lies ahead. It gives a simple frame of reference, that helps you to understand where you are in the business when thinking about options to develop and grow.
Diagnostic framework
This tool is now available as an online resource, and I encourage you to take a look at it. It is a simple web form that takes about five minutes to complete, and will get you thinking about your business along six different axes. This is a simple, yet effective way to understand the ‘shape’ of your business. If you fill it in and submit, you will receive a short feedback paper that profiles your business. This report is free of charge, as a little thank you for contributing to the second part.
Benchmarking research
The second part is the research project, where your responses, suitably anonymised, will be gathered alongside those of your peers. This dataset will allow us to produce benchmarking insights for the population that you can use to compare with your own company. If we gather sufficient data, there will also be opportunities to segment the population and compare the profiles for different characteristics.
Get involved
This project is entirely free of charge to participants. It is intended to provide insight into the business community and become a reference point for strategy and growth planning.
Data that identifies the responder or the company is only there to allow feedback of the individual diagnostic report. That data will be stripped from the response when it is merged into the main dataset.
If you are a growing company, planning to pitch for investment, or thinking about the next phase of your growth path, then take a look at the framework. It may help you to see something differently, or learn something that really helps you to move forward. To try it, press the button below.
